IF YOU GET TIRED LEARN TO REST, NOT QUIT.

AS THE END OF THE YEAR DRAWS CLOSER, EXHAUSTION FROM FAMILY, CAREER PRESSURES, STAYING IN SHAPE + KEEPING A HEALTHY MIND IS STARTING TO TAKE OVER… IT MAY JUST BE TIME TO REST.

Life these days can be overwhelming purely for the fact that overachieving is all over social media. People have a great body, a great career, great assets, time for travel, and a wonderful family, but the truth is that is all smoke and mirrors. Don’t believe everything you see online and don’t aspire for the unobtainable.

If you have been working yourself to the bone it may be time to learn how to rest, not quit. Take the time to slow down, but never stop because when you allow yourself to stop completely, even for a minute, you just made it 100% harder for you to get back up and push forward. So if you feel exhausted, and think you can’t take another step forward, learn how to rest.

Learning your body is so important. There are going to be times when you really want to keep going and push to your limits, but you have to know where to draw the line. If you put yourself into a state of pure exhaustion (mentally not just physically) you may suffer. Feeling “burnt out” can be ultra damaging when you literally just try to do TOO much. At times, we do need to push ourselves to the limit in order to grow past our threshold. But we also need to know not to do it too frequently.

So what can you do? Take time to relax. Why not read a book, get a massage, take a slow walk by the water, meditate, or simply sleep a little longer. Find what makes you zone out and cherish the break. Once you have given yourself time to rejuvenate just get back on it, and the next time you think of quitting don’t accept it. Just know that you have to protect you from you at times so learn to rest, not to quit.
