Did you hear the news? ✨ After time away in Colombia reconnecting with family, culture, and community, Juan has returned to Brisbane with fresh energy, new inspiration, and a whole lot of flavour to bring back into the studio.

We caught up with him to hear all about his time away and what’s coming next.

What was it like being back in Colombia?

It was insane in the best way. It felt like going back home, but also realising that home has evolved.

I’ve built my adult life in Australia over the past eight years, so returning to Colombia was about reconnecting with my roots, spending time with my mum and family, and just slowing down for a moment. I ate all my favourite food, recharged, and I honestly just filled up my cup. 🥹

We heard you arrived back at the studio fresh off the plane — what was it like getting back to class?

I landed at 5am and made it into Cait's 6:30am class. 😮‍💨 I had missed it too much to stay away. Even after a 14-hour flight, there was nowhere else I wanted to be. It honestly gave me energy rather than taking it away — being back in that space felt right, and with Cait was even better 🫶🏼

What did you miss most about the Inspire community while you were away?

I missed my people. A lot of my life and support system is here, and Inspire has been such a huge part of my journey. Being away made me realise just how connected I feel to the community and how much it means to me.

Where did you teach while you were gone and what was the experience like?

I taught at Sí Colombia, an established chain studio. It was an incredible experience and a big learning curve in the best way. I grew a lot as a coach and as a person, especially teaching in español and building community from the ground up. It gave me a deeper understanding of what it takes to create connection in a room — something I’m bringing back with me now. ✊🏻

Anything new we can expect from your classes? (Colombian flair 🔥)

More Latin music, more energy, and more of my culture woven into the experience. I want to share that flavour with the community. And of course… still spicy choreography.

What’s something Colombia has that Brisbane doesn’t — and vice versa?

Colombia has this incredible warmth and an amazing party culture. But Brisbane has something really special too — so much kindness, positivity, and community spirit.

What are you most looking forward to about being back (for good)?

Rebuilding my community here and getting back into rhythm with Inspire. I’m also really excited to lean more into strength training and keep growing as an instructor. ❤️
