ICYMI, we’re painting the Rumble Room at Teneriffe pink with not one, not two, but THREE baby girls incoming in the next few months 👼👼👼.
With our Boxing Babies arriving so very soon, we thought it was time to check in with our mammas (and father) to be, and find out their top tips for moving while pregnant and wellness routines, and their plans to get back in the Rumble Room.
What do you think the main change has been for you and how have you listened to your body?
Alex: My biggest change (and challenge) in fitness has been not being able to run. I miss it so much! After about 17 weeks, I felt a lot of pressure in my pelvis and decided I would listen to my body and cut out the running. Aside from that my life hasn’t changed a dramatic amount; I still go to bed at 8:30pm but that’s nothing new 😝
The female body is WILD. I have moments where I freak out and realise I have a baby(alien) in me and she is growing all her body parts and vital organs. Thinking about that, I truly couldn’t appreciate my body more for being able to create a safe and comfortable space for my little girl.
Dani: My biggest hurdle has been my body saying no deal to high intensity exercise which is my absolute favourite. Whether it be running, spin or just any full noise classes in general, my body was 100% not onboard with getting hot and sweaty from about the 10 week mark. Saying goodbye to intense training for the past 6 months has had its moments but it’s only a short period of my life and it's the first of many moments of putting my little girl first.
What are you most excited for as new Mums?
Alex: I don’t think I can pinpoint one thing I am most excited for - there are too many. To be able to watch my little girl see everything for the first time, experience life and watch her grow is something I couldn’t be more excited for. But sharing it with my incredible partner and watching him become a Dad is something I truly cannot wait to see.
Dani: I can’t wait to have the opportunity to nurture and guide her through this crazy life and see what her little personality will be like! I hope my beautiful partner and I can be an inspiration to her and make her proud as the people who she trusts and looks up to the most. I can’t wait to enter this new chapter as a couple and build a fun-filled family.
How has staying active impacted your pregnancy and how have you adapted your own workouts?
Alex: For me, this was the biggest game changer! Staying active throughout my pregnancy has been such a blessing - I know I am one of the lucky ones to be able to do so but truly it has helped me SO much. Fitness is something that helps me so much mentally and it has helped A LOT with my mental health around the changes that are going on within my body. I am growing a human inside of me so my body will inevitably change, and being able to train and release those endorphins has helped so much.
Dani: I am so grateful that my body has allowed me to keep up with the majority of my regular programming as an instructor! At this stage, apart from pure core work I’m still able to complete all movements. It's been lovely to slow my training down and go for many (and I mean MANY) hikes. I get so much joy from being out in nature and it has done wonders for my mental state! In trimester one I had to say farewell to HIIT, and entered a hiking challenge with friends so I had that to focus on throughout the second trimester leading up to the event. Trimester three has been all about implementing daily mobility, stretching and mindfulness to help me prepare my body and mind for birth and to allow me to continue to work.
What's your top tip for Mums-to-be?
Alex: This one is tricky to answer because I know all too well that every person and every pregnancy is different and therefore it’s hard to navigate what the best tip would be. If I could say one thing, it would be to trust your body. If you have the capability to go for a walk, do it. If you need to vent or talk, find someone you feel comfortable doing that with. Try to get outside, get moving and spend time with people who lift you up – they are the special ones ❤
Dani: My top tip is that nutrition is key. In my first trimester until about 15 weeks, my taste buds were fairly non existent. I would walk around the supermarket like a zombie. Eating well and correctly fueling myself and bubs with all the nutrients we need (for me to work and her to grow) was always at the forefront of my mind. Even if you don’t feel like eating - nutritious good food is fuel for both you and the baby's body and mind.
Biggest pregnancy craving or thing your most excited to do post-baby?
Alex: I haven’t had any HUGE pregnancy cravings other than more GYG than usual. But something I am excited to do post-baby is having 2 large coffees in a day without worrying! Nearly everything you eat and everything you do impacts your baby, so I am excited to not have that hanging over my head and not having to google “does X impact your baby in the womb” haha
Dani: I’m not going to lie….. I cannot wait to have a cold beverage!!! A glass of champagne or an ice cold beer, ummm yes please! Biggest craving has thankfully been fruit! …. And randomly, carrots. Haha, a raw carrot a day (don’t ask why)!
Christian, what are you most excited for about becoming a #girldad?
Showing my little princess the ropes of life, and spoiling her with gifts! And also knowing that every girls first love is their dad, and knowing she’s mine also ❤️
Why will you make sure to stay active when your little girl arrives?
I have always wanted to be an active and fit dad. Having a baby will change my schedule, but making time for me will help with mental and physical aspects of this new stage of my life.
Your due dates are all so close together (and all having girls!) How did you tell each other the news and what’s it been like to share this experience as a team?
Christian: It was amazing seeing Alex and Dani share their beautiful news, knowing that I also had news to share!
Alex: I told Dani at around 13 weeks and at the exact moment I told her, she said “me too!” We got so excited – such an epic surprise to be going through it together. I can’t believe we have 3 in the Rumble Room within just weeks of each other.
Dani: It has honestly been so lovely having a close member of the team on the same first time journey as me! Hearing Christian was expecting a girl also was the icing on the cake. He will be the best girl dad.
While you take some time off to spend with your little ones, what can we expect in the Boxing Room?
Oh guys, you are in the safest hands!
We have the epic instructors you already know and LOVE but we also have some exciting instructors coming back (YAY TIFF) and some new ones that are so ready to put you all through your paces! Can’t wait to see the room grow and cheer on from the side lines ❤
We’re all going to miss your classes! When do you expect to return to the Boxing Room? 😉
Christian: I’ll be having a little time off but I’ll be back before you know it!
Alex: Honestly, is the day after giving birth too soon?! Haha. I think I will enjoy the newborn bubble and see how my girl handles the world before jumping back into the Rumble Room but trust me, it will definitely not be long before you will be doing those burpee tuck jumps into a sprint I promise! 😝
Dani: I will be back with a vengeance in the new year ready to unleash some pent up energy in the Rumble Room! Aiming to make a return to the schedule from March.
From all of our Inspire team + community, thank you for giving your everything in the Rumble Room and we can’t wait to meet your little girlies! We know you’ll INSPIRE them just like you’ve inspired us 🩷
We’ll see you on the other side!
