RECOMMENDATIONS FROM OUR TEAM TO YOU.
We're not gatekeepers here at Inspire. If we have a good recommendation, we have to let everybody know about it! These are our June recommendations, from our favourite restaurants to novels, podcasts, television shows, and local businesses.
TO EAT....
1. NAGA THAI, EAGLE STREET PIER
Naga Thai recently announced that sadly they will be closing their doors on the 17th of July. After hosting many memorable Inspire Christmas party's, we couldn't recommend enough a trip to this beautiful restaurant. The banquet menu is particularly delicious and features massaman beef milk buns, prawn pad thai and pork shoulder curry. We couldn't recommend it enough!
Pair your meal with a delicious cocktail from a very inviting lineup..... Did we mention they have boozy iced teas?
Don't miss out on your last chance to dine!
2. LIGHT YEARS, BURLEIGH HEADS
Located in Burleigh, Light Years is known for their very aesthetic decor, but don't be fooled by the pastel pink and decorative palm trees... their food and drink menu is also out of this world!
If you're not sure what to try, Gracie has been raving about the Miso Corn (GF) and Cumin Spiced Fried Cauliflower (GF, V) 🍜.
3. HONTO, FORTITUDE VALLEY
Under the same family of restaurants as Same Same, Los, Agnes Bakery, and Bianca, you already know that the food at Honto is going to be insane!
With a dark and chic ambience, this Japanese inspired restaurant has our mouths watering - don't skip the karaage chicken burger! Looking for something more casual? This restaurant screams late night drinks and nibbles. With an extensive cocktail menu, you won't be disappointed.
TO WATCH....
THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY - watch it on Prime
From Ari
EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT LOVE - watch it on Stan
From Holly
ONLY MURDERERS IN THE BUILDING - watch it on Disney+
From Georgia
TO READ...
ELEANOR OLIPHANT IS COMPLETELY
FINE, GAIL HONEYMAN
Tara would recommend listening to the books playlist on Spotify while reading - "it gets you into the story/vibe more!"
The blurb....
Meet Eleanor Oliphant: she struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she’s thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding unnecessary human contact, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy.
But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office. When she and Raymond together save Sammy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen, the three rescue one another from the lives of isolation that they had been living.
EXTRAS...
1. WINE WICKS
Wine Wick is a local Brisbane business that recycle and re-purpose champagne bottles to create beautiful soy candles. The scents are heavenly!
2. THERAGUN
Who's saying no to an at home massage? Not us!
Ari has been loving the Theragun massage gun, which helps her muscles recover between tough classes!
3. COME FROM AWAY, MUSICAL ON THE GC
If you're into musicals or have an enjoyment for the arts, Come From Away is a must see! It's currently being showcased on the Gold Coast if you're down for a little weekend getaway (you can also visit Light Years while you're there 😉 ). Otherwise it's also currently being streamed on Disney+.
